Europe Trip 2014

Attention all travelers and expats!

I am looking for some advice and tips! Travis and I, along with my sister and her boyfriend are planning a trip to Europe this May. We plan on visiting Ireland, Belgium and France, all in just about two weeks. This trip is a chance to celebrate our birthdays, my graduation, our anniversary and it's basically a trip for us making it through graduate school and two and a half years apart. It is the light at the end of the tunnel and has kept me going through school. I am so thrilled to go back to Europe, travel with my husband and share some of the crazy moments and adventures with two of my favorite people.

While studying abroad in England during college I was able to travel to Ireland. However it was on one of those cheesy bus tours and I think I spent about 4 days there. I am so excited to head back and really soak in the Irish countryside and culture. As for Belgium, it is the home of beer, frites, and chocolate? Duh. Need I say more? And France, specifically Paris. The one place I wanted to see while abroad and I never had a chance to explore. But you know what? I am so glad I didn't, because now I get to gallivant around the city of love with my husband! I am squealing with glee right now.

So, I am asking you travel experts for the lowdown. I am looking for the must see sites, to die for places to dine, pubs we absolutely must drink a pint in, you get the idea. Any small piece of advice you have would be greatly appreciated. I am all ears.

  1. So exciting!! I LOVED Musee D'Orsay in Paris. Way less overwhelming than the Louvre. It was the highlight of my trip. And I also liked the Luxembourg Gardens and the Eiffel Tower of course. We did a tour on one of the hop on/off buses the first day and it really helped us get our bearings and decide what we wanted to see. Best of luck with your planning!

  2. I definitely want to take a trip like this on soon -- how amazing! I've been to Europe but haven't been to these countries. Sounds like it'll be a great trip! Excited to see pictures.

  3. SO exciting! Out of those 3 places, I have only been to Paris. Definitely recommend going to the Eiffel Tower (duh), Versailles, Sacre Coeur, shopping down the Champs-Elysees, Notre Dame, and eat everywhere you can! I don't know if there's a specific restaurant I would recommend. The neat thing about the city is that most restaurants and bakeries are delicious, so if you pick something close to where you are that day, it's most likely going to be amazing! Happy planning!
